Visa Information and Invitation Requests

Visitors wishing to enter Japan must have a valid passport which will remain valid during the period of their stay. Peoples of many countries are eligible to enter Japan without visa. However, if you need a visa, it is advised to begin the visa application as soon as possible. Strict security requirements may cause delays in visa processing.

Letter of Invitation

If you are an abstract contributor and need an Official Invitation Letter from the LPSO2022 Conference Chairs, please fill out and send the Invitation Letter Request Form to the visa supporting desk. To receive an invitation letter, you must be listed in the conference program as presenting author of accepted abstract. Please follow the procedure;

  1. Download the Invitation Letter Request Form by clicking on the download link here.
  2. Fill out a separate form for each person requesting a letter.
  3. Send electronically completed form to the visa supporting desk (abelab-secretary@stem.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp) before October 14th, 2022.
  4. If you are paper-contributor, your abstract is subject to peer review by program committee. Issue of invitation letter will be made only to presenting authors of accepted abstract. Please allow visa supporting desk at least 14 days to process your request.
  5. All letters of invitation will be sent by air-mail and by e-mail (as a PDF attachment).

Please note that the LPSO2022 visa supporting desk is unable to contact Japanese embassy or consulate in your country. You can obtain detailed information on Japanese embassy or consulate on the website of the Japanese ministry of foreign affairs at http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/index.html.

COVID-19 and Entry to Japan

Based on the New Border Measures on October 11, for all cross-border travelers and returnees, on-arrival test at the quarantine station, self-quarantine in places such as their own residence or accommodations, and refraining from use of public transportation are are no longer required in principle.
